Have
you, in the course of your work, identified problems or barriers
to success in your field?
Are
there technical questions to which you are seeking answers? Is there
a particular area of mechanical engineering that you would like
to know more about?
If
you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, then you might want
to become involved, at some level, in research within ASME. The
first step is to call the Research Center (CRTD) at (202) 785-3756
and chat with one of the staff. It may be that a Research Committee
already exists in your field of interest and you need only join
up. If not, you might want to start one. CRTD staff can help with
all of that.
Participating
in research is an excellent way to make a contribution to mechanical
engineering: by solving problems, by expanding knowledge in a given
area, and by communicating ideas and results throughout the profession.
The
following flow chart depicts this process,
from the beginning of an idea to
the final product.
