The
Research Committee on Corrosion and Deposits from Combustion Gases
is comprised of approximately 20 technical experts who define and
conduct laboratory and field projects, organize technical meetings
and workshops, and publish information relevant to the behavior
of combustion gases. Most of the research is conducted by the various
institutions represented on the committee, with a smaller portion
directed by the committee itself.
The
principal focus of the committee is on stationary combustion systems
such as utility boilers and industrial furnaces. The fuels most
commonly causing corrosion and deposition problems include coal,
biomass, black liquor, and occasionally fuel oil.
The
committee actively seeks industrial and public sponsors that wish
to address combustion-related problems with such fuels under the
auspices of ASME. Please contact a committee member if you are interested
in joining in these efforts.
